Rudolph W. Snowden
The Rudolph W. Snowden Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. (RWSMSF) is named in honor of Brother Rudolph W. Snowden. Bro. Snowden was a teacher and principal, and those who studied under him or professionally collaborated with him knew and appreciated his comprehensive grasp of the academic field, and also the exacting standards that he brought to the teaching and learning process. Bro. Snowden was also a well-regarded member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He was the principal founder, a charter member and first basileus of the Mu Nu Chapter (Montgomery County, Maryland), which is an unincorporated association of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
RWSMSF aims to help increase the number of African-American male college/university students, and to assist in the preservation of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). RWSMSF annually considers scholarship applications from qualifying and deserving African-American male, high school graduating seniors from Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland who will be attending HBCUs. Final issuance of scholarship awards is contingent upon award selectees providing verification of enrollment from their chosen HBCU for the academic year immediately following their award selection.
The RWSMSF Board of Directors (the “Board”) may annually select one or more awardees and scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each. Awardees may apply their scholarships toward tuition, fees or other expenses. RWSMSF is an authorized nonprofit in the State of Maryland and an IRS-approved section 501(c)(3) charitable organization eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions under Tax Identification No. 52-1102842.
